    Description

1896 Richmond Dispatch ORIGINAL EXAMPLE of the iconic Confederate Souvenir Edition Poster. Shipped with First Class Priority Mail.
This may be THE best and most attractive of all early Confederate tribute posters. Incredibly rare and ideal for framing, this 1896 print produced by The Richmond Dispatch features portraits of Jefferson Davis, Alexander Stephens and the Confederate cabinet along with Robert E Lee and Stonewall Jackson. Small faults technically are numerous but the overall appearance is still stunning, and this is actually the best example of this very fragile poster I have ever seen. Another extremely important note: most examples that are offered are reproductions (even in some auctions that mean well but just don’t know).
Numerous small condition flaws include: Thin paper shows folds, a few small chips on the edges where the folds are; Some repaired tears at edges with acid free archival tape on the back; a small ll hole at the mid-fold and tear just under the words “Design for”. Other minor wear.
AND YET.....it looks GREAT. And I don’t think it is likely to find an equivalent example anywhere (let alone superior).
    Dimensions: 23 x 17 inches.
