This is Aston Martin doing its best Italian impression when it comes to the DB7. It has fewer than 9,000 miles on the clock and it offers a striking color combination. Two-thousand three was the last model year for the DB7.
Made in Bloxham, Oxfordshire, England in June of 2003, this car is dressed in California Sage (code 1338). The paint and trim are in very good order. A black, power-folding cloth top is in very good order and presents great contrast to the body color. The bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is immaculate, there are foglights and the body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the body.
This car rolls on Michelin Pilot Super Sports, size 245/35ZR19 in front and 265/30ZR19 in back. Each tire is mounted on a factory alloy wheel. The wheels are in excellent condition while the tires are in very good order.
Under the front-hinged hood is a 5.9L DOHC 48-valve V-12 engine backed by a ZF five-speed automatic transmission (code 5HP30) and breathing through dual exhausts. Driver convenience features include automatic climate control, power rack-and-pinion steering, power disc brakes, cruise control, power windows, power locks, power sideview mirrors and heated seats.
Inside is where this car really shines. The front buckets are upholstered in cream leather with green piping while the carpeting is finished in a contrasting green and looks great. A black, three-spoke steering wheel sets off the green over cream instrument panel with its full array of gauges. On the inner door panels, center stack and center console are a lot of burled maple trim for added warmth. The steering wheel, door panels, dash, center console and shifter all look great. A factory AM/FM stereo rounds out the interior.
Safety equipment includes dual front airbags and anti-lock brakes.
Ford Chairman Jac Nasser presented the finished car, which had yet to be named, to the general public at the 1993 Geneva Motor Show. Due to the positive and overwhelming reception, the car was put into production as the Aston Martin DB7.
The positive response also prompted Jaguar to use the platform for the XJS’ successor. The car was redesigned by Geoff Lawson and was launched in the market as the Jaguar XK which uses an evolution of the XJS platform (called the X100 by Jaguar) and the cars share a family resemblance, although the DB7 was more expensive than the XK.
The DB7 was engineered in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, by TWR on behalf of Aston Martin. The engines continued to be built in Kidlington during the production run of the vehicle.
With the production of the Virage (soon rechristened “V8” following Vantage styling revisions) continuing at Newport Pagnell, a new factory was acquired at Bloxham, Oxfordshire that had previously been used to manufacture the XJ220, where every DB7 would be built throughout its production run. The DB7 and its variants were the only Aston Martin automobiles produced in Bloxham and the only ones with a steel unit construction inherited from Jaguar (Aston Martin had traditionally used aluminum for construction of the bodies of their cars, and models introduced after the DB7 use aluminum for the chassis as well as for many major body parts).
The convertible Volanté version was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show held in Detroit in 1996.
Competition to this Aston Martin in 2003 included Maserati’s Spyder Cambiocorsa, Chevrolet’s Corvette, Porsche’s 911 Carrera 4 Cabrio.
Documentation includes leather binder with original owner’s guide, accessory collection and more. If you’re enjoy English coachwork, a well-crafted interior and car that’s in a one-of-a-kind color, this Aston Martin might just be your ticket.
