Description
This is An Exceptional Japanese-Made Naval Silkwork Embroidery hand painted by the George Washington Company, Benten-dori, Yokohama, Japan. The gorgeous silkwork painting shows an image of an American Sailor during the WW1 Time Period. This image has to be one of the sailors of the Great White Fleet that visited Japan and between 1907 and 1909. The company, George Washington, was established in 1880 to sell all sorts of Japanese art goods, especially items popular with the American Navy including embroidered kimonos, tablecloths, shawls, painted cushion covers, oil paintings on canvas, calendars and Christmas cards. This is quite the RARE piece and is exceptional by every means. The painting itself is in fantastic shape. The outside frame is quite worn, broke up, and tattered from age. This will be shipped very securely.
