    This unpolished stone slab of semi precious gemstone material named Copper Rose is 5 inches by 3.75 inches and 11 mm thick..
    This rough lapidary rock slab weighs .66 lbs. and is shown wet in the first 2 pictures.
    It is a very pretty conglomerate red matrix with Native Copper and Felsite pebbles.

    , came from the Calumet & Hecla Mine in Houghton County, Michigan. Formed in 1871, the Calumet & Hecla Mine is an underground copper mine consisting of 96 levels with 16 incline shafts and one vertical shaft named Red Jacket. Mining operations ceased in 1968 following a labor strike.
    The camera dulls the shiny copper reflection-but it is very visible to the naked eye! The little black spots are Felsite pebbles. Felsite is a very fine grained volcanic rock containing feldspar and quartz.
