    Description

Large 11 1/2 Inch Hopi Indian Nampeyo Era Pottery Bowl.
This is a larger bowl measuring 11 1/2 inches wide and standing 3 3/4 inches high. It is very ornately decorated with a large spread winged bird on the interior and spot detail on the outer edge.
There is very minimal signs of damage for a bowl this age. Small spots of pitting, a small hole on edge (photographed), and paint wear consistent with age and handling.
This piece is not signed because Nampeyo could not read or write. Her daughter Annie often helped her in the earlier years and didn't sign pieces either. I have no direct knowledge that this is one hundred percent a piece of her pottery but it is very consistent with her work, the coloring of the clay and the artwork.
Please look closely at all the photographs as they are the best description.
