Here is a nice proof edition rendering of Lt. General Stonewall Jackson and family just before his own men accidentally shot him in April 1864 at the Battle of Chancellorsville of the Civil War for your buying consideration.  Would make a great gift for a special occasion, or keep for yourself!
Offered here is a nice antique stipple black and white engraving of Confederate General Stonewall Jackson.  Probably the most famous Confederate General after Robert E. Lee.  The rendering is very well done.  The piece was engraved by William Sartain.    You need to be the final judge if this is an original engraving, or a later restrike before acquiring.
One of the better examples of this engraving we have come across in our over 35 years of collecting and dealing.

Says "Lt. General Thomas J Jackson and Family (Stonewall Jackson)" below the image of him and the family "Engraved by William Sartain, Philadelphia", below the plate image in right lower corner.  States, "Proof" in the lower right corner of the engraving.
The engraving has not been examined out of the frame.
The wood frame is dark brown in color.  Some minor chipping and loss of finish to the wood frame the top left corner.  The paper and hanging wire is in place on the back of the piece.  Looks to have been framed and matted in 2016 by the Foliograph Gallery which have offices in DC, Falls Church and Old Town Alexandria.
The glass is intact, no cracks or blistering.  An antique white matting with dark red and gray around the inner perimeter.
The Stonewall Jackson and Family Engraving including the frame is 23.5" tall, by 27.5" across, by 7/8" wide.  The engraving showing thru the matting is 16" tall by 19.5" across.  Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.  Don’t be shy to make an offer, we are always open to reasonable suggestions.
