Item Description:
This auction is for an old bayonet. I was told that this was the 1896 Swedish bayonet made to fit the Mauser rifle. The bayonet measures just under 13" long from end to end. The blade looks to be in nice shape with only some normal handling wear and scratches. One side is stamped with the Crown over the letter C and the other side is stamped with a Crown over the number 757. The handle and guard piece show heavier wear with some tarnish and some scratches and small dings. The guard piece is marked with what looks like a 4 over L 16 and No 39.
Also included is the scabbard which includes the leather frog. The scabbard shows finish wear and has some tarnish. It is marked with the number 6 over I.15 No 58. The frog shows heavier wear and has some scuffs and scratches. The top strap has some cracking. The metal rivets have some greenish oxidation.
