Originally called "singing mother," a Storyteller is a clay figurine made by the Pueblo Tribes of New Mexico. A Storyteller sculpture is of any human or animal figure covered with smaller children or animals. Storytellers are one of the most collectible and sought after forms of Native American clay art.
Carol Lucero Gachupin is the daughter of  Jemez Pueblo potter Margaret Lucero. She uses traditional pueblo pottery methods, making her own natural clay and pigments.  Carol is well known for her detailed painting of her storytellers.
