Description
Original double-page antique engraving titled "General Sigel's Corps at the Second Battle of Bull Run — Fought August 29, 1862," published byHarper's Weekly
more than 155 years ago.
The image area measures 34.5 x 52.2 cm [13¾" x 20½"], and the view was sketched by William H. Davenport.
Details include Union troops in formation, horses, cannons, and the Stone House, used as a field hospital during the battle.
Condition:
This engraving is in very good condition, with a vertical center fold, as issued, and
no
marks, rips, or tears. There's a faint smudge in the left margin and some light toning along the center fold. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.

Major General Franz Sigel commanded I Corps in General Pope's Army of Virginia at the Second Battle of Bull Run, also known as the Battle of Second Manassas.
This original engraving was published in the September 20, 1862 edition of
Harper's Weekly,
three weeks after the battle — a battle of much larger scale and numbers than the First Battle of Bull Run fought on the same ground the year before.
