    Description

You're bidding on a rare version of Japanese first Word War Medal. Please examine the photos carefully to see the condition of this item as it's the exact one you're bidding on. This comes with its original box (rare).
There were two versions of this medal made. The original was a 1914-15 version (this one) and a more common 1914-20 version. They look quite similar but the rare 1914-15 version only has a single row of Japanese Kanji characters on the reverse while the 1914-20 version has two rows. A soldier could earn both medals but if he did, he was only allowed to wear one medal (the latter version) on his uniform. This medal was established on November 6, 1915 to commemorate participation in World War 1. A wonderful addition to any WW1 or military collections.
