    Description

    Rhodusite Lapidary Slab #7428
    3.8" x 2.4" x 0.35-0.13" (tapered)
cut along short axis of crystals
    Heather Canyon Lapidary
Rhodusite is magnesio-reibeckite, a beautiful blue amphibole mineral. The fibrous crystals are naturally stabilized with microcrystalline quartz. The long axis of this crystal is chatoyant, similar to pietersite.
This is a rare mineral found only in a couple of places around the world. The names comes from the Island of Rhodes off the coast of Greece.
This material tends to want to split along the crystal axes. In order to minimize this I put a temporary back on the slab, cut and polish the top and then remove the back. You can glue it on with a glue that can be removed with acetone or alcohol or you can cut the back off.
At Heather Canyon, I seek to provide the best rare and exclusive material at affordable wholesale pricing to accommodate even the most discretionary artisan.  I provide some of the most popular lapidary material from around the world as well as exclusive Heather Canyon material.  I am a professional geologist and do some of the collecting for material myself as well as seek out some of the best rare materials.  Each lapidary slab is shown wet with both sides so you know exactly what you are receiving.
Shipping will be combined on all orders.
