you have written all kinds of things about 'Blythe Spirit,'
I'd like to send you my last critique from Mystik, Connecticut. As far as Marie Alden is concerned, the critic was right. She was dressed very poorly, and I kept on begging her to be more glamorous and even went so far as to buy her two outfits. She simply did not want to invest anything in her character. As for the lighting, I always had a ghost-green spot on me and so did Ruth in the third cast.
Jimmy Burrows directed the play
very well (you know that
he is Abe Burrow's son
) and I really had nothing to do with the lighting anyway. I would like you to know that
on the summer circuit we were the only show to make real money
in Syracuse, Rochester, and Mystik even though we followed very important names.
I really worked very hard those five weeks
, and I'm very proud of our success. And you know, dear Radie, being an old friend, you should understand that. Hope to see you soon

RADIE HARRIS
(1904-2001) was a
long-time entertainment journalist for the "Hollywood Reporter".
She wrote
her "Broadway Ballyhoo" column
from 1940 to the 1990s. Harris, who was also the
talent coordinator
for the 1943 film,
Stage Door Canteen
, received a
special citation of merit
from the Publicists Guild of America in 1982. She had obviously
reviewed Gabor's performance in a summer stock production of
Blythe Spirit
.
A minor actress but major Hollywood celebrity,
Zsa Zsa Gabor (1917-2016)
was Miss Hungary in 1936.
She moved to the United States just like her sisters Eva and Magda.
Zsa Zsa made her film debut in
Lovely to Look At
in 1952, the year she gave a well-received performance in
Moulin Rouge
.
She starred in the cult favorite
Queen of Outer Space
(1958) as well as other features. On television, she's best known as a frequent guest on
The Hollywood Squares
(1966-1975). She was a popular figure on the talk show circuit, making numerous appearances on
The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson
and
The Late Show with David Letterman
.
Known for her trademark "dahlink", she also made frequent headlines with nine marriages, politically incorrect furs, and spats with the police.
Her husbands included hotelier Conrad Hilton (1942-1947), actors George Sanders (1949-1954), Jack Ryan (1976-1982), and Felipe de Alba (1983, annulled), and German Frédéric von Anhalt (1986-present), who purchased the title of Prince Frederic of Anhalt via an adoption. Lightly creased with folds, upper horizontal fold at the upper loops of the "l" of love and the "K" of Kisses. Pinhead-size stain at lower left blank margin, light stains on first page. Otherwise, fine condition.
